Obituary For Rev. Flossie Jane Price Johnson

II Timothy 4:7- “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

Chesapeake-Reverend Flossie Jane Price Johnson was born September 2, 1930 to the late Henry Oliver Price
and Melvina Elizabeth Hemingway Price in the Royal Oak section of Supply Brunswick County, NC. She was the eighth of nine children they were blessed with.

Her earthly transition on May 11th, 2024 was preceded by both of her parents; husband, William M. Johnson Sr.; daughter, Marcia Anne Freeman; siblings: Howard, Johnie, James and Samuel
Price, Rhonie Riggins, Fanie Smith, Katie Nance and Mamie Frazier.

She attended Royal Oaks Elementary School where she excelled and graduated from Whiteville
Negro High School in Whiteville, NC with Honors. She graduated from Beaumont School of Practical Nursing and went on to serve for 32 years at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. While working there she met and married her husband, William M. Johnson. They were blessed with four children.

From an early age she was involved with the church and community activities. She worked faithfully in the church with youth as a Sunday School teacher, with missionaries, hospitality and could always be counted on as a mentor and prayer counselor. God called her to ministry and she was ordained and became a Minister. She was even inspired to travel to the holy land to walk in the steps of the Lord during her Ministry. She served at First Baptist Church Money Point, Olive Grove Baptist Church and St. Marks Missionary Baptist Church as a spiritual leader/ counselor as well as a counselor for people in correctional facilities. She was known as a strong prayer warrior.

She was a Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star, she loved gardening, became a master gardener
and taught the love of nature and gardening to her family and friends. She was an avid seamstress and quilter becoming well known for her custom made quilts. She always dreamed of playing piano and learned to play herself in her 40’s believing you are never too old to achieve new goals.

She leaves to celebrate her life, her children William M. Johnson Jr.[Sylvia] of Waldorf, MD; Oliver T. Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA; and Donna F. Revell. [Ronald] of Chesapeake, VA; her great grandchild whom she raised Charlena S. Toliver of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones, special friends and prayer
partners.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held 10:00 am Saturday; May 18, 2024 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church; Portsmouth, VA. A viewing will take place 1 hour prior to service Saturday morning at the church. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park; Chesapeake, VA.

    I thank God for the life of my amazing Aunt. She was always eager to share words of prayer and encouragement. We laughed; sang traveled and shared many fond memories. Thank you my family for sharing her with me and so many others. May God bless you and grant you peace.
